Sseko's 30 ways 30 days challenge

For the last month Sseko Sandals has been hosting a 30 ways for 30 days challenge. I really wanted to remix my Ssekos a bunch of different ways this year. Sadly because I'm in school from 9am-5pm five days a week and have to wear close toed shoes while I am there I haven't gotten the chance to wear them out that much. However I did get to snap a few pictures of my outfit during the weekend! I came up with my own way to tie them! If you've never heard of Ssekos before check out their story here! You can also read my last post about them here! Sseko is an incredible company developed to empower young woman in Uganda by providing jobs that produce money for them to pursue further education! I cannot rave about these shoes or this company enough! Head on over and buy yourself a pair of these versatile sandals! They are so worth it especially since you can tie them and style them in countless ways!

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Thrifted ($5)
Pants: Forever 21 from a garage sale ($1)

He popped the question!

Last weekend my handsome man popped the question! I knew it was coming but I still cried my eyes out like a baby.

On August 5th David blindfolded me and took me on a long car ride to a mysterious destination. being the person that I am I fell asleep during the drive. When we arrived he took off my blindfold and the first thing I saw was a redwood tree I instantly knew we were at Mount Hermon, the camp where we first met.  We took a little trek down to the creek and as we turned the last corner I saw a beautiful picnic set up with wine glasses and flowers. He told me he knew I would be nervous so he had just packed a light lunch for us which turned out to be cheese, crackers, sparkling cider, fruit and some junior mints for dessert.

After eating our lunch he opened up a large laminated map of California for me. on it were numbered stickers each sticker had an envelope to go with it full of pictures of all the places we had been together. The last envelope had a little note in it which told me we were going to take some pictures together. He had the tripod all set up and told me he was going to set the timer, then he walked over to me and instead of posing for a picture got down on one knee. He told me he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me almost since the moment we had met and asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him. I said yes! The camera was taking a video since he knew I had really wanted it to be video taped.

It's so surreal to be engaged. I don't feel any different I just feel like myself. However I didn't anticipate the weight and stress of how serious an engagement is. It's the first step of pledging the rest of your life to someone else. Kind of a scary thing not gonna lie.

I feel truly blessed and honored to be this man's fiance. He is so caring, selfless, godly and responsible. I could have never dreamed of a better guy. He's got it all.
These pictures are screen shots from the engagement video.

For all of those wondering my ring is a 1960's vintage rings with a platinum setting and gold band. He got it from an amazing etsy seller called Luxe Deluxe. She has an amazing selection of vintage rings and is always listing new ones!

Today is a day for a Crown Braid

After watching this lovely crown braid tutorial by She Lets Her Hair Down I was itching to try it myself so today I did. It turned out surprisingly well I thought. I love the way I feel feminine and yet practical with my hair pulled back this way!

Valentine's Day 2012, better late than never.

Hello folks, I know Valentine's day has come and gone but I just wanted to share a bit about my Valentine's for my own personal records. Here's my Valentine's Day post from last year.

The excitement of Valentine's day started a day early when these two packages arrived at my door with instructions that they were not to be opened until February 14th. You can imagine my curiosity as to what these two parcels contained!

The next morning I woke up bright and early and had a mini Skype date with my man to open my surprises.
The first box contained a message in a bottle with the most beautiful love letter in it and the second box contained Black Forest Truffles from See's Candy! My man sure knows how to do Valentine's Day right! Thanks hon!

I had work that day so I packaged up a bunch of goodies for the kids I nanny and got myself ready for the day. I wore a handmade heart headband inspired by this and made a matching one for the little girl I nanny to go in her goody bag. For my valentines this year I used this wonderful print out from Mer Mag!

At work the kids and I used heart shaped cookie cutters to cut hearts out of apples, strawberries and PB&J sandwiches. I wish I had snapped a few pictures of that but I had my hands full with the kiddos!

My father was at a convention for work during Valentine's Day but when he got back he took my sister and I out for burgers, a movie and cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory! Of course we went and saw The Vow which sadly did not meet up to my expectations but still made for a fun movie date. Needless to say I felt very loved this Love Day!
